Randwick Pool House

This Randwick pool house transformation was conceived as both a design refinement and a functional reinvention. What was once a dark, underutilized outbuilding has been reimagined into a light-filled retreat that balances classic detailing with contemporary restraint.

The design process began with the introduction of new structural framing to open the gable façade and support expansive bifold windows and doors. This gesture establishes a seamless visual connection between the interior and the pool terrace, drawing in natural light and garden views while enhancing cross ventilation.

A complete envelope upgrade followed — with retrofit insulation to improve comfort and energy efficiency, and new exterior cladding to unify the structure with the main residence. The result is a space that remains cool through the height of summer and comfortably warm in winter, all while maintaining a clean, timeless exterior expression.

Internally, the fitout was treated with the precision of a tailored interior. New flooring grounds the space in soft grey tones, while custom trim work and wainscoting bring architectural depth and proportion to the walls. The restrained palette of whites and greys, accented by black furniture and delicate detailing, allows the natural light to animate the room throughout the day.

What emerges is a refined yet relaxed environment — equally suited for quiet retreat, entertaining, or extending the rhythms of poolside living.
